Safe coach travel
The safety of our clients is the primary concern of Wyvern Schooltours Ltd.
We do all we can to ensure the best possible quality of service and that coach provision is safe, reliable and comfortable.
A high quality coach and a helpful and reliable driver are crucial to the success of your tour. We insist that drivers should be professional, responsible, careful and dependable. They must abide by all relevant laws and regulations.
We hire modern coaches, which rigorously conform to current European safety regulations. These vehicles contain many safety features including: seat belts, speed limiters, ABS, multiple independent braking systems and high backed, energy absorbent seats.
We only use coach companies that:
- Supply DBS cleared drivers.
- Obey all EU laws on drivers’ hours.
- Obey all EU driving and vehicle safety laws including the provision of seatbelts.
- Supply drivers that are professional, responsible, careful and dependable.
- Supply an executive coach with reclining seats, air suspension, video/DVD, public address system and toilet/washroom.
- Provide a driver who is experienced, smart, co-operative and friendly, who wears the uniform of their company.
Unless agreed otherwise, the coach that collects your group upon departure remains with you throughout your tour and will return you to the original point of departure at the end of the tour.
We usually use 49 seat executive luxury coaches on our school trips. Other coach sizes are can be provided, depending upon availability and suitability for your group.
We contract with all major channel ferry companies and Eurotunnel. We endeavour to secure the most appropriate available channel crossing for your tour. We can also provide you with the channel route that you prefer, subject to availability. Please advise us of your preferences at the time of completing your booking form.
Safety and supervision of students during the channel crossing is the responsibility of accompanying adults. Leaders must follow the advice of personnel on the vessel or shuttle.
We provide safety guidelines to party leaders in the secure area of our website. All ferry companies agree to meet independently recognised international safety standards. Brittany Ferries can allocate designated seating areas to school groups, at supplementary cost.
Eurotunnel provides an alternative to the channel ferry services. Wyvern makes no supplementary charge for this option. The approximate journey time from Folkestone to Calais is 35 minutes during the day, 45 minutes at night.
