The charm of this popular region has enchanted school groups for many years.
The Puy du Fou historical theme park near Cholet is great fun but also educational -chariot races take place in the Roman stadium, jousters compete in the Medieval City, and falconry displays are given against the backdrop of the ruined Renaissance château and an 18th century village.
Groups are also enthralled by exploring the canals of the Marais Poitevin in a traditional punt while horse drawn carriage rides around the Ile d’Aix create lasting memories.
La Rochelle is famous for its three towers in the old port which date from 14th and 15th centuries. The Porte de La Grosse Horloge leads into the old town where medieval arcades, cobbled alleys and large pedestrianised area make this a wonderful town to explore. The amazing aquarium is in the former fish market near the old port and Maritime Museum .
Futuroscope, in nearby Vienne, is the second largest theme park in France and packed with innovative activities that include 360° cinemas, 3D films and various simulator rides. New attractions are introduced every year. Educational resources are free for school groups.
